Texturing games is an important aspect of game art. There are many aspects of game development at the various stages involved as well as the technologies and skills used are usually taught in game animation courses.

These courses teach the various aspects of game development. Today game design and development are a big part of animation; it requires the knowledge of 2D and 3D animation but it goes beyond that. The 3D character modeling might be common for all types of 3D animation but the game designing involves many other unique aspects such as texturing games.

Those who specialize in game development can specialize further in the texturing art. If you find a texture artist staring at a blank wall, he or she is only starting to appreciate the various textures that even a plain white wall can take up in different types of lighting and with different materials. The texture on a wall or the scaly skin of a reptile is the difference which comes out in a 3D animation from a 2D animation.

When an artist is applying texture to a game surface, they actually scan actual photos of different textures and save them in the computer to render on images as different textures on animals, creatures, environment, objects and so forth. Great 3D environments are created by applying the appropriate textures on them. The textures which can be conceptualized or scanned from physical objects, are then mapped on 3D objects and environments to give them that visual edge.

The texture for games is decided upon not only as per the artistic layout of a game but also needs to fit into the technical limitations of the platform on which the games are going to be played. The processing capability of machines and the memory size also need to be considered before considerable texture for games can be designed. Texture designers who specialize in such game art designs also learn to create illusions of textures without using up too much memory which can then be utilized for other parts of a 3D video game.

Today there are many animation studios as well as corporate who require the services of games professionals. Game designing jobs are in demand with knowledge of multimedia, graphic designing as well. Texturing of game software is an advanced and specialized skill which few professionals possess and these are highly priced jobs as well.

Special effects are an integral part of animated movies and related projects nowadays. Special effects are nothing but illusions which are created in films, theater, television and other forms of entertainment media to help simulate and emphasise events that are being depicted in a story. Special effects are often abbreviated and known as SFX or simply as FX.

If you want to know what is special effects, it consist of two basic categories of optical effects and mechanical effects. Today, with the advance of film making tools, there is a greater distinction that is achieved between these two categories. While visual effects are usually incorporated digitally post production, mechanical effects are incorporated on set and as optical effects through camera.

Optical effects are usually photographic effects which are incorporated in images and film frames in the in-camera process using techniques like multiple exposure, mattes, the Schüfftan process and so on. Optical effects can also be put post production using an optical printer. This helps place actors in different backgrounds than the one where they are filmed.

When you see atmospheric effects such as wind, snow, storm in a film or a car driving by itself, it does not occur to us that it is a special effect that is being created while the film is being shot. These fall in the category of mechanical effects whereby mechanized props are usually used. These are again incorporated in the set design or in the makeup of artists.

Today, computer generated imagery or CGI has come into the special effects scenario and greatly enhanced the lengths and technology of creating SFX for films and other animated projects. Today film makers use CGI with greater control and can incorporate many different effects in their films and productions as the technologies and software in the arena of SFX keeps getting more evolved.

Needless to say, SFX is featured in many animation courses. Such courses could focus on all aspects of animation or focus on film making, pre and post production effects. SFX is also taught as specializations for animation professionals. With the growing animation film making and gaming industry, the demand is growing for such professionals. The International Academy of Computer Graphics, Arena Animation, MAAC are some of the several institutes which include SFX as part of their comprehensive animation film making programs. They also offer SFX as specialized courses for those interested in furthering their expertise in such technologies.

Today there are various types of media courses which are available for those who wish to pursue diverse careers in the entertainment and media industry. From web and graphic designing to video editing, these courses cover varied fields in media and entertainment.

Video editing is a process by which video shots are manipulated and rearranged in order to create a new video. Video editing is usually a part of post production whereby color correction, titling, sound mixing and other effects are added onto the video clips to form the finalized video or film. Thus, the major functions of video editors comprise of rearranging, deleting, adding video and audio clips; applying effects such as color correction, filters and other forms of digital enhancements; creating transitions between clips and so forth.

The main aim of video editing usually compromises of removing unwanted footage by which videos can be improved. Again, video editors also choose the best footages to be featured in a video and help to create or maintain a flow of the story or information in a video. Finally, putting in effects such as music, graphics, styles, moods are other aspects of video editing whereby video editors can help increase the “wow” factor of videos and films.

Today there are many institutes which provide professional courses for video editing. These are usually courses for professionals who are looking to further their skills for jobs in post production studios and other animation units. FineTune, Film & Video Editing Academy, Hyderabad is one such institute which offers a video editing software course known as Final Cut Pro. It is an Apple authorized training centre for video editors who would like to gain expertise in using this software in video editing.

Indian Film & Television Institute (IFTI), Delhi offers a one year diploma course in Video Editing. This celebrated institute covers all aspects of editing through this course and offers projects in news, documentary, music videos whereby raw footage editing is done for documentaries, serials, TV channels and helps students to be geared for the media industry.

Other institutes include Aizaz Rizvi College of Journalism & Mass Communication, Lucknow which offers a Certificate Course in Video Editing, Asian Academy of Film and Television (AAFT) in Noida which offers Video Editing and Sound Recording course of three months duration, Editworks School Of Mass Communication in several cities offers different types of editing courses and others.

Today, with the rise of media courses, there are myriads of choice for students out there. Those who wish to get into the media industry, need to first identify their competencies and interests amongst the diverse fields of media and entertainment which are present today. The various institutes which offer multimedia courses have broken them down into specialized streams and hence, one needs to understand what course would lead to what type of career, job prospects, skills requirement and so forth.

When we look at web designing, it is an area whereby different forms of art techniques and layout designs are used in creating and designing websites. It is a process by which websites are designed by collecting the content that is to be included in a website, documents and applications that lie on servers and how these can be accessed through a webpage and so forth.

Thus, the whole process of web design and development includes planning the layout, post production work, doing research, creating advertisement opportunities as well as controlling the media content. A website can be worked upon by a group of web designers who will create the home page, cite the objectives of the website, update the daily happenings on the different pages, add hyperlinks to connected pages and so forth.

The course content of such courses may differ from one institute to another but in general consist of the following modules. The initial stage of any web design and development course will entail learning about planning and designing web pages and then moves on to learning how to create web pages with the help of internet technologies such as HTML; the third step usually consists of learning how to format web pages with style sheets, including graphics and so forth. After that comes leaning to complete the overall site design and manage the website or web pages; knowing about web authoring software, live project work are usually the assignments which come at the end of web designing courses.

Every animation and multimedia institute offers web design courses nowadays. Arena Animation has a one year diploma course in graphics and web designing offered in some of its centers in India; Frameboxx Animation & Visual Effects offers a comprehensive 3 yr degree course in animation and multimedia which includes web design apart from which it also offers 4 month duration certificate classes in web and graphic designing. TGC Animation and Multimedia offers an Advanced Diploma in Graphic Design & Web Design which is of 15 months duration.

Thus, for those who wish to specialize in web design and development, need to look up the institutes in the cities near one to find the course which would meet their requirement the most.

Media arts and animation are part of each other. Animation is a form of media arts since the media simply represents the varied platforms on which animation can be created. Whether the media is that of television or films, computer graphics or mobile videos, the animations produced for these different forms of media differ accordingly.

Animation is defined as the rapid display of a sequence of characters or images which are shown in a 2D or 3D framework so that the illusion of movement is created in the eyes of the viewers. Optical illusion of motion is exploited by the art of animation. As per the persistence of vision theory, the image of an object lasts for a fraction of a second on our retina and if similar images are shown within that time with slight differences in positions, the image or object appears to be moving.

Traditionally animation was done with individual frames of hand drawn sheets. Here each drawing depicted a slight difference in position than the one before it. These drawings were then traced onto transparent acetate sheets, were filled with paints and held opposite the line drawings. The character cels so called were then photographed onto motion picture film by a rostrum camera.

The cel animation process has become obsolete in the 21st century since today most animations are done using computer software. These programs can help one to create drawings, put in movement and effects and the final output can be put in various types of media such as 35 mm film or a digital video format. Some examples of traditional animated films are Pinocchio, Animal Farm and traditional animation effect created by computer technology has a perfect example in The Lion King.

Stop motion animation is another form of animation whereby real physical objects are physically manipulated and photographed frame by frame to create the illusion of movement. There are different types of media which can be used to create such animation. Puppet animation, clay animation are popular examples of stop motion animation.

Today, media animation is part of many courses in animation institutes in India. These courses prepare students to take up opportunities in the TV and film industry mostly. For instance, TGC Animation and Multimedia offers a five month course in Media Animation which prepares students as 3D media animator or VFX artists for the television industry as well as post production units in film making. Other institutes offer media animation in different forms such as Aakriti Institute of Arts, Animation and Gaming which offers B.Sc programs in VFX & Digital Media Animation, Woodstock Animation and Media School offers Diploma in 3D Animation Film Making and others.

Multimedia is a term which is very closely associated with videos and computers. In simple words it is a media that is created in order to use more than one medium in a single program. For instance television is also a form of multimedia as one can see the video as well as hear the sound. Multimedia also includes mixture of audio, video, text, animation, still images and much more. A multimedia project is something that kids can outline pictures and thereafter can write, draw or paste photos or even objects to portray what the picture actually means.

Multimedia for kids is more of a motivation than anything else. If you want to draw the attention of kids then you must ensure that they are motivated to do so. Multimedia helps us teach our kids numerous ways of learning not only in the classroom but also at our homes. Kids can see and visualize everything that is being told or taught to them which is why multimedia is so advantageous for kids. There are several advantages of multimedia especially for kids. Some of the main advantages have been listed below.

Kids love being entertained as it keeps them engaged all throughout. They love entertainment and the sole reason for introducing multimedia for kids is to make their lessons entertaining at the same time interesting too. This indeed helps you draw their attention and they can concentrate more on the teachings that are being taught to them.

There are quite a few websites that offer multimedia tools especially for kids. Kids with the use of such online multimedia tools can work on creations like movies, cartoons, audio mixes and much more. These websites help kids understand the stories more clearly and also helps them present or narrate the stories very easily.

Multimedia offers educational games for kids which help children learn how the human body functions or it can be games related to music, grammar, maths etc. These online multimedia games help kids improve their skills. There are maths and science games, English games as well as music and arts games. These multimedia online courses are offered free of cost by most of the websites. The information gets fed into kid’s brain using the multimedia tool.

Thus multimedia is highly beneficial for kids. It is not only a tool used for entertainment but also for education. It helps your child develop his or her skills faster.
